Sports Rehabilitation
If you have ever suffered an injury,
you will know just how frustrating being stuck on the sidelines, and
not being able to take part in the exercises you love can be. If left
untreated that feeling could be worsened through incorrect exercises
and returning to training too early and before the injury is ready.
To prevent such set back’s it is important
to seek advice from a sports rehabilitator.
Through theoretical and hands
on training I have developed my knowledge in a range of different injuries
and the best way to manage and treat such injuries, as well as detecting
them. For example if you went to the doctor’s with a sprained ankle
they would recommend rest, and no other exercises. This on its own could
cause serious implications to sports people as the range of movement
that you are able to achieve at the ankle would be seriously depleted.
Therefore it is important to be given a number of non-weight bearing
exercises that will stop the joint from seizing up and will reduce the
amount of time spent on the sidelines.
Once you have achieved full pain
free movement at the joint it is important to begin strengthening the
muscles and ligaments surrounding the joint to prevent the injury from
occurring again. The last set of exercises that would be taken by the
athlete would be sports specific exercises, and it would not be until
such exercises had been completed sufficiently that they would be allowed
to return to competition.
So in order for you to recuperate from your injuries quicker and to feel less discomfort in the return to competition from your injury call today for an injury assessment to determine the extent and duration of the injury healing process.
